Jason D. Givan, MD, FAAD, FACMS

Jason Givan earned his medical degree from the West Virginia University School of Medicine in 2002, completed an internal medicine internship and residency at West Virginia University Hospitals in 2005, and completed a dermatology residency at Saint Louis University Hospital in 2009.  He then completed a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and cutaneous oncology at the University of Massachusetts in 2010.

Following his training, he joined the academic faculty of the University of Massachusetts, before moving to Lynchburg in 2011 where he began practicing as the only Mohs micrographic surgeon in the Lynchburg area.

Samantha E. Hill, MD, FAAD

  • Board-Certified Dermatologist

  • Board-Certified Pediatric Dermatologist

Samantha Hill earned her medical degree from The Medical College of Wisconsin in 2003, completed a pediatric internship and residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in 2006, and completed a dermatology residency at Saint Louis University Hospital in 2009.  She then completed a fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in 2010.

Following her training, she joined the faculty of the Medical College of Wisconsin where she practiced at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.  In 2014, Dr. Hill moved to Lynchburg from Austin, TX, where she was on faculty with Dell Children’s Medical Center.

For the past 14 years, she has been a passionate volunteer with Camp Discovery, a summer camp program through the American Academy of Dermatology for children with severe skin disease; and with Camp Spirit, a winter adventure camp in Colorado for children with a severe blistering skin disorder.

Sarah Simpson, MD, FAAD

  • Board-Certified Dermatologist

Dr. Sarah Simpson earned her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth School of Medicine in 2018 followed by completion of an internal medicine internship and dermatology residency at Carilion Clinic Medical Center in 2022.

Dr. Simpson understands the challenges patients face when seeking medical care and strives to provide a streamlined process that patients can appreciate to provide an exceptional experience. She encourages an open communication relationship to optimize your medical visit.

Dr. Simpson has a strong passion for children and pediatric dermatology. During her last year of residency, she tailored her schedule to have a strong pediatric base and was often the “go to” for interesting and complex pediatric cases. She is a member of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology and regularly attends society meetings and continuing education in pediatrics.

While Dr. Simpson focuses primarily on medical and pediatric dermatology she does offer limited cosmetic treatments, including botulinum toxins and superficial to medium depth chemical peels.

Dr. Simpson is very grateful to serve the community of Smith Mountain Lake. She grew up spending many summers in this area and was fortunate to spend time during her residency practicing in this area. She lives in Moneta and enjoys spending time with her two young children and husband enjoying life on the lake!

Jamie Martin, PA-C

Jamie Martin received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She then went on to complete her Masters in Physician Assistant Practice from Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina.  As a Franklin County native, Jamie moved back to Glade Hill and started her career in Family Practice in Gretna, Virginia. Since joining the RidgeView Dermatology team in March of 2016, she has enjoyed a successful transition into specialty practice and looks forward to continuing to serve the greater Smith Mountain Lake community.

Jamie enjoys watching sports, reading, traveling, and spending time with her husband and three dogs. Jamie and her husband welcomed their son Luke in February of 2017.

Kamal Chantal, PA-C

Kamal Chantal completed an undergraduate degree in athletic training at Longwood Univeristy in 2002. He went on to earn a master’s degree in physician assistant studies at Lock Haven University in 2004. Following his training, he moved to upstate New York and worked in orthopaedic surgery for 2 years.

He moved back to his home state of Virginia in 2006 and worked in orthopaedic/spine surgery until joining RidgeView Dermatology in January of 2017.

Kamal and his wife Alexis have 2 children. They enjoy cooking, gardening, and horseback riding as a family. He also enjoys playing golf.

Mandy Wilkes-Hoffmeister, FNP-C

Mandy Wilkes-Hoffmeister earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Virginia in 2001, her RN diploma from Lynchburg General School of Nursing in 2007, and her Masters of Nursing from James Madison University in 2014.

Mandy is a Lynchburg native who enjoys gardening with her husband and 2 children.


Austin Wheelwright

Kate Craighead, NP-C

Kate Craighead is a certified nurse practitioner with over 12 years of experience in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. She treats patients of all ages, specializing in skin cancer detection and the treatment of acne, eczema, melasma, psoriasis, rosacea, and more. Additionally, she provides cosmetic treatments for skin rejuvenation including Botox, chemical peels, laser treatments, and the cosmetic removal of benign skin lesions. As a provider, Kate believes in staying current with available treatments and providing kind, courteous, and respectful care.

Kate grew up in the Roanoke Valley and understands how difficult it can be for patients to have timely access to dermatology care. She is excited to have the opportunity to offer care in Bedford that is more convenient and closer to home for many individuals.

AUSTIN WHEELWRIGHT, PA-C


Austin Wheelwright is a certified physician assistant with experience providing medical dermatologic care to patients of all ages and genders. As your provider of choice, Austin genuinely cares about each patient that walks through the doors and wants to be able to help them in their time of need. He strives to communicate with patients in a way they can understand and provide an individualized approach to treatment plans. Austin specializes in skin cancer detection and treatment, the treatment of acne, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, warts, and more.

Austin is fluent in English and Spanish.
