What is the Rejuvapen™?
The Rejuvapen™ is an exciting new method of delivering micro-needling rejuvenation to the skin. Also referred to as skin needling or collagen induction therapy (CIT), micro-needling is a minimally invasive procedure the uses fine needles to stimulate the body’s natural healing process. This treatment is chemical-free and involves only minimal downtime.
The Rejuvapen™ can be used to treat some of the most common aesthetic concerns, including:
- Fine lines
- Mild skin laxity
- Stretch marks
- Photoaged skin
This treatment can be used on nearly any area of the body, including the face, neck, hands, and midsection. Because the Rejuvapen™ opens up tiny columns in the dermis, it can also increase the effectiveness of many topical medications.
How it Works
The Rejuvapen™ treatment applicator has several ultrafine needles that cover its surface. During each Rejuvapen™ session, this applicator is passed over the treatment area. As they pass over the skin, these ultra-thin needles create a series of micro-injuries.
These injuries are small and mild enough so that there is no scarring after treatment, but large enough to trigger the body’s natural processes of healing and renewal. This healing response causes blood and growth factors to rush to the treatment area. It also stimulates the production of new skin cells, collagen, and elastin. Over time, these biological materials result in tighter, healthier, younger-looking skin for patients.
What to Expect from Treatment
Before treatment begins, a topical anesthetic cream is applied to the treatment area to improve patient comfort during the procedure. The most common side effects after treatment include redness, minor bleeding, and minor bruising. Fortunately, these are typically mild and fade within a few days of receiving treatment. The amount of time each Rejuvapen™ session takes and the number of total sessions needed will depend on the area being treated. Typically, each treatment is spaced at least two weeks apart from the last.
A series of Rejuvapen™ treatments can be an excellent way to correct minor aesthetic imperfections without the need for a more invasive procedure.
