What is Laser Skin Rejuvenation?
Laser Skin Rejuvenation is the process of using a laser to burn off the parts of the skin that are damaged with acne, sun spots or wrinkles and replace it with brand-new skin. This process can help solve a variety of skin problems such as:
- Skin blotches
- Fine lines
- Sagging skin
How Should I Prepare for Laser Rejuvenation Treatment?
The best way to prepare for this treatment is to refrain from taking any medication that can affect the flow of blood within the body. This includes aspirin, ibuprofen, and some vitamins. This will ensure that your body has all the tools it needs to heal from the laser and to grow the new cells.
It’s also recommended that you stop smoking or taking any antibacterial or anti-inflammatory prescription medications that you may be on. If prior medication cannot be removed or reduced let a member of our medical team know during your consultation.
What is Laser Skin Rejuvenation Treatment Like?
One of the major benefits of laser treatment is its accuracy. You can target a few specific parts of your face, or you can have your entire face done. If you are targeting only a few wrinkles around the eyes or your mouth then the only thing the doctor will need to do is apply a numbing a gel or local anesthetic. If you are getting a larger area worked on, your doctor could employ the use of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or may choose to put you completely under.
Depending on how much skin is receiving treatment, the process could take anywhere between 45 minutes to a couple hours.
What is the Recovery Process Like?
Immediately after treatment, your doctor will apply a healing cream and a bandage. Once you leave the office, it’s important to monitor this bandage and clean it when appropriate. You will also need to apply a petroleum jelly-based or topical cream to the area in order to help protect and heal the affected skin. You may experience some swelling, itching, tingling, or stinging in the area. It’s also common to have some peeling in the affected area a few weeks after treatment.
